it was ok
bookshelves: read-in-2012

I suppose it's well-written for what Duras was trying to accomplish; however, I really disliked it. It was repetitive, often uninteresting, and slow. I get that she was going for the written version of memory--the way our minds work when we're remembering--but there's a reason that free flow of disconnected thought goes on in our minds and not in published novels or novellas. I found the [extreme] non-linear perspective disorienting and, as I said, repetitive. And I enjoy non-linear story telling! This just wasn't the book for me.
