it was amazing
bookshelves: historical-romance

Loretta Chase almost never fails me and this book is one of my favorites by her. The strength of this delightful book is the hero and heroine and how well suited they are. Harry aka Longmore is big, strong, reckless, loyal, and a man of action. I loved the running joke that he's of only average intelligence which would be followed by Harry figuring something out or seeing through the heroine's many disguises. He is paired with Sophy who is cunning, brave, confident, lies easily, a great actress, and a survivor. Their dialogue was a pleasure to read. I loved that it was the heroine who was smart and used her brain and skills to solve the problems the two faced.

To be completely honest, the plot was a bit over the top and the story wasn't grounded in reality, but I did not care a bit. I was swept along by the great storytelling and I thoroughly enjoyed this.
