25 Days 'Til Christmas
Kathleen Gray's review

A lot can happen in 25 days. Kate and her son Jack have been in their own since Tom was killed in Afghanistan 4 years ago. Jack doesn't really remember him but he does want a Christmas- a happy Christmas and that's what Kate's going to give him, even though she's working on a knife edge budget. She's wearing an elf suit and selling Christmas trees when she's spotted by Daniel, who lost his dear sister Zoe just after Christmas the year before. Even as Kate copes with trying to find a new educational system for Jack and a way to fund her grandmother in law's care home, she keeps her spirits up because she has good friends but then things go quite awry. Daniel becomes her friend before he is her romantic interest, and it's nice to watch that build. This is set in Bristol, with some nice atmospherics for the local shops including one where differently abled adults sell coffee and cakes. You won't be surprised where this is going but that was ok with me because it was so good spirited and sensitive- and because Alexander is a wonderful storyteller. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC. Perfect if you're looking for cheer.
