it was amazing
bookshelves: character, language, read-in-2012, story, teen-fantasy, teen-fiction

I had heard a lot about how good this book was, so when I first started reading it and realized it was about horses, I was slightly disappointed because horse books never really did it for me. But then I read past the first two pages and was hooked on the story about a town by the sea where dangerous water horses that live on blood live. Every year a festival is held where people race on these water horses, endangering their lives. Puck's parents were killed by water horses and now their house is threatened to be bought by the evil rich man of the town, so she decides to enter the race. Sean Kendrick (who works for the evil rich man) has raced and won practically every year. There is romance, there is danger, there is suspense, and it doesn't end on a cliffhanger with the promise of a sequel, which I appreciated.
