really liked it

A grimly humorous and thought-provoking account of homelessness written in George Orwell’s clear blank prose. It’s telling to see quite how current the description of prejudices and perspectives on the homeless feel, even close to a century after the events recounted in the book. I did, however, find the anti-semitism and other period details jarring - particularly knowing the turns history would take several years down the line.
