Really these books should be classified as fantasy. The women are impossibly beautiful (and crack helicopter pilots), the men are impossibly hunky (and have a crippling sense of honour). But that's part of the romance trope, and these are fun to read as long as you don't take them too seriously, or read them too often - a bit like very rich chocolate. Brockmann does the intersection between romance and thriller well, with the emphasis on romance - which is probably why her female characters seem bent on discussing their relationships just as the bombs are about to explode ...
