liked it

The plot - a hunted man trying to survive the night - is a nail-biter but, even though that's probably how my mind would work in the same situation, some the mental ramblings dampened the suspense and pulled me out of the story. Still, the setting details are terrific and I raced through to the end, staying up far too late to finish.

message 1: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Lyon I, too, couldn't wait to turn the pages, and sometimes skipped over the "mental ramblings," often based on the protagonist's vocation as a photographer. In hindsight, I might have needed those "rests." I loved the fact that the author's voice was distinctive and, through the simple premise of being hunted and trying to survive one night, the author created such high-pitched suspense. I would be more generous than Carolyn (though I am not as well read) and give the author 4 stars.
