Miranda's life is drastically changed when an asteroid hits the moon, and sends it out of orbit pushing it closer to the earth. Tidal waves, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions send the world into a state of disaster. There is no electricity, little communication, and no way to get food or gas. Told through journal entries, we follow Miranda and her family in a struggle to survive. They manage to stockpile food, but that is only part of the problems they face. No hospitals, stores or restaurants are open. How can they survive the winter without gas to heat the house? How long will their food last?
This story definitely makes you wonder what would happen if anything this catastrophic actually happened. I feel like I could never have enough food or water in the house to survive. Very well written and believable story.
