really liked it

I wish Goodreads had a category for "Read again." Because I find myself pulling Lukeman's books off the shelf every few years to refresh my own editorial sensibilities, and to remember why I am always recommending them to writers. On the second (or maybe third) read of this book, it's not everything I remembered, but it's still the best tool in my arsenal for writers who are struggling to find their story. Lukeman's exhaustive, and often exhausting, series of questions pushes writers to dig deep and really know their characters, their conflicts, and their journeys. At times I wish there were fewer questions and more practical guidance for how to accomplish, say, suspense. Writers will need to turn to other experts, and dig deeply into their own talent, to make all of the support that's here work for them. But overall, "The Plot Thickens" lives up to its reputation and still sits near the top of my "recommended for storytellers" list.
