it was amazing
bookshelves: family, ya, death-dying

Conor wakes up one night to discover that the yew tree outside his house has come to life as a monster, and has some important issues to discuss with him. Conor's mom is undergoing treatment for cancer, and the author does a beautifully heart-wrenching job of exploring the experience of losing a parent through the eyes of a 13 year old boy. The book is also full of dark, captivating art work that perfectly compliments the intense emotions of the story. This book is part of www.battleofthebooks.slj.com, and I hope it goes far. It's just lovely, definitely one I would buy to add to my personal collection.
