Read from March 19 to 27, 2012

Janelle Tenner, a seventeen year old high school student, is hit by a pickup truck and killed. Next thing she knows, Ben Michaels, a high school student she barely knows and has never spoken with, is bending over her. She knows that somehow Ben has brought her back to life. Ben runs off before she can ask what he just did to her, but she is determined to get answers.

Janelle finds out that the driver of the pickup truck had severe radiation burns on his body. So severe, in fact, he should have already been dead let alone driving a vehicle. Janelle finds out that her father, an FBI agent, has been investigating a series of incidents where bodies have been discovered across the city with similar radiation burns. While snooping in her father's files to find out more information, she discoveres that in addition to these victims,a device has been found that appears to be counting down to something..but what?

Janelle begins to wonder if all these events are tied together, and could Ben and his mysterious ability somehow be apart of it all? Will she uncover the truth before the countdown ends?

This is a debut novel by Elizabeth Norris, and a fantastic one at that. The novel gripped me from the opening pages. The main character, Janelle, has had a tough life with a bipolar mom, and an absentee father. She has had to be the parent figure to her younger brother, and that has given her an inner strength that helps her face some of the situations she encounters in this book. She also has the support of her best friend Alex who lives next door, and he helps her uncover the mystery of the events taking place around her.

I loved the pacing of the story, and the science fiction elements. This book reads like a combination of the television shows 24 and Fringe. Readers wil not be disappointed.

I look forward to the sequel!
