it was amazing

If author Joy Riggs's great grandfather, G. Olver Riggs, was a music man (and, you'll discover in this book, he really was), Joy Riggs is a newspaper woman. Around the time her youngest child starts Kindergarten, Riggs discovers a story about her family's past that intrigues her. Riggs wants to know more and so begins what at first seems a joint research project with her dad, but it grows into so much more. By the time her youngest child is graduating from high school, Riggs has researched and written a book that provides a unique take on American history, told through her great grandfather's story as a community band leader. Riggs also tells the story of researching G. Oliver's story and, in doing so, Riggs invites readers into her home to watch as she and her husband magnificently parent their own musical family. Along with a large piece of history, a small slice of history passes by: the author's children become tweens, then teens, then twentysomethings. CRACKERJACK BANDS AND HOMETOWN BOOSTERS, tells a magical tale you won't want to miss.
