really liked it
bookshelves: hard-science-fiction, dystopic
Read in January, 1995

The first time I read it, as a young teenager, I don't think I really understood all of the implications of this world Gibson envisioned. The futuristic tone was as far away as the concept of a dark underworld with shady deals. I had to grow up, live in a city, and become acquainted with the general noir concepts of the underworld and criminal cliches at all before I understood much of this novel. Nevertheless, I did read this fairly young, and I can definitely see how it influenced later books and genres. Cyberpunk originated here, and I respect that.
