Justice on Trial: The Kavanaugh Confirmation and the Future of the Supreme Court

Let there be no doubt about it, what happened to Judge Kavanaugh was a witch hunt. The thumbscrews and the Judas cradle were replaced by fake rape accusations, but other than that, the Senate Inquisition shared all the same essential characters with their Spanish counterpart. The message was quite clear to anyone on the Right (and by Right, they mean anyone to the right of Chairman Mao), heel or we will destroy your career.
But this is the problem- the Left overplayed its hand. The Kavanaugh hearing brought back the concept of presumption of innocence back to the American household. The so-called Pence Law became popular again, as a backlash against fake unsubstantiated accusations and how they destroy people's lives. Many women- women with fathers, sons, brothers and husbands they love- saw what was happening, and their support was invaluable. The blind faith of the society to ANY old rape accusation will be reduced, once it has been publicly shown that some women CAN and WILL fake a rape for their own selfish interests.
The next confirmation will be worse. But, everyone will be ready for what might happen.
