really liked it

Another engrossing story about Ruth. It is refreshing to find a main protagonist struggling to juggle her work with childcare and maternal responsibilities - just occasionally I got a tad irritated with her faffing over her inadequacy as a mother. It seemed to be her default, though my impatience might be because my own experiences as a new mother are a very long way away...

I enjoyed the mystery, with its roots in WWII - and unlike many of those war stories, Griffiths has resisted the urge to put any kind of nostalgic gloss on the past. All in all, this is a strong addition to the series, which I am thoroughly enjoying.
