it was amazing

A thoroughly enjoyable story. The three sisters are well sketched, and each grows in believable and satisfying ways. I found this book especially enjoying since I visited Ellis Island last year and because my great-great grandmother emigrated from Sweden to work as a domestic in the 1880s, so this story helped me imagine some of what she would have experienced. My admiration for Lynn Austin as a versatile author continues to grow.
