Okay, so I feel about the same way towards this short prequel story as I did towards the book, Cinder. Interesting concept, not so interesting execution. This story covers Cinder's life from the time she joins her new foster family until her step-father/benefactor dies. I was hoping for a bit more of a look into the mother and sister's cyborg prejudice, but it's pretty much just the same unexplained bitchiness as the book. I also just don't connect with any of the characters. The only emotion I felt reading both this short story and the full novel was annoyance at the step-mother. And part of that was more annoyance at the lack of explanation for the cyborg prejudice than anything else. When characters died in the two stories, Garan here and (view spoiler) in Cinder, I felt little to nothing for them. I'm just kind of annoyed because this concept could be done so much better.

♔Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Veronica Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ♔ I agree I didn't really feel much emotion towards the characters either I just don't think the author made them likeable enough, I didn't connect with them very well.
