Okay, so another 3 stars for this one. I liked it, but I wasn’t just completely over the moon. Plus…another male character, Fox, is introduced as someone interested in Tara which I felt was a bit unnecessary. It took me a while of staring at my Kindle before it really hit me as to why I kept feeling like it just wasn’t enough before the problem struck me…because it just wasn’t enough. The first book has 270 pages and Two Kinds of Damned is only 239. As I mentioned in my first review, the climax seems to sneak up on the reader and is a bit underwhelming. I feel like this is because there just isn’t enough time to really flesh out the “story” Dawson is trying to tell if she isn’t willing to stretch towards that 350-page mark. You have four MC’s, plus murder, and magic. Character building, relationship building, plot, world-building, etc. I want to really adore this series, honest. I am holding out hope that book three just ties it all together and makes me want to bug all of my bibliophile friends to read this series.
