really liked it

Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block is written like a dark cartoon for adolescents. It has fun, whacky, and quirky characters that are thrown into a world that rejects them for who they are. Many of the motifs seem adult related and it may make adolescents feel uncomfortable when they read it. Homosexuality and sexually deviant behavior runs rampant throughout the novel, which can make some adults want to censor it from their children. However, Block writes the story in such a way that it invites and accepts everyone to read as if they belong to the group in the novel.
