An intimate view of the only man in the U.S. State Department during the thirties who had any idea that Hitler was a threat on a global scale. Erik Larson has done another excellent job relating a non-fiction subject in an almost novel like form. I would have given it five stars except for the fact that I felt he spent too much time expounding on the ambassador"s daughter's affairs.
