it was amazing

This is a fascinating book, written in a unique style, that provides a catalogue of life in a Northwest coastal village that spans the Mink River. The bits and pieces of Native American and Irish legend and history provide a context and background for the current intricacies of life in this small village. The language is simultaneously spare and all-encompassing. Not an easy read, but a tantalizing one!

There are passages that just scream to be read aloud, especially to a group of young writers just before you set them loose to create their own community of the senses as has Doyle.
