This book is a very good overview of the history of food-related research in diets and weight loss. I think it's really important to know what actual research is going on, and the author does a good job of presenting the information and results in a way that offers no bias. I would have in fact preferred a little bit of pot-stirring on the part of the author on certain topics, but I think she lays the foundation aptly for the reader to come to their own conclusions.
