This has one of the most original twists I've ever read in a crime thriller and if it's anything to go by I can't wait for Rachel's next one. I understand the debate aroused by the ending as to whether or not the guilty or the innocent should be held to account for their actions, and it certainly made me think hard about it. The book itself is well written although my only critisism is that it dipped slightly just after half way and some of Tom's dialogue was a little bit modern management speak, but the last quarter I read in one sitting, hungry for the conclusion. I think more could've been made of the relationship between Tom and Laura but overall, an excellent read, a superb debut, and I shall buy Rachel's next one just on the strength of 'Only the Innocent'.
