's review

Tricky to share my thoughts on this one because to do so could easily veer into spoiler territory. Its concept (view spoiler) isn't a new one, but I'm not sure I've read it in YA before now. I've seen many a movie with it and I love 'em -- they're one of my faves. So I think where The Echo Room stumbles slightly is in its POV character, Rett. I didn't connect with him nor care about him really, other than on a basic human level and not wanting "the man" to win over him and others. Not sure why I didn't connect with Rett (or Bryn)... I'll have to think on that some more.

I'd recommend The Echo Room to teens (12-17) looking for sci-fi as long as they're patient readers because they'll need to stick through the first 100-ish pages to really get into the heart of what's happening in this one.

Side note: I do like Peevyhouse's writing and her imagination. But, I enjoyed Where Futures End more, A LOT more, than The Echo Room. I'll keep an eye out for her next one. :-)
