really liked it

Well, I knew about the Berlin Airlifts, but I had never heard about the Candy Bomber. The humanitarian effort on the part of Col Gail Halvorsen and the United States Air Force that grew to include help from American companies, American school children and people all over the world. The story is easy to read and very informative. It's perfect for middle school students, but as an adult, I enjoyed it, too, so I believe it could be used with kids grades 5 and up - including high schoolers. If a high school student reads it wants more information, they can always read a more detailed account of the Berlin Airlifts, but for me, this was perfect. It gave me clear, concise information and provides a ton of primary source information. Halvorsen himself is interviewed and provides many pictures and documents for the author. Great book!
