it was amazing

What a horrendous time to be living in this most beautiful of cities, Paris.

If you ever appreciated Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl, read this for a grown woman's commentary on the events in Paris prior and during WWII, the chaotic exodus of thousands of people self-exiled from their homes and heading toward the south where they thought they would be safe. Foolishness, selfishness, absurdity, confusion, bewilderment, fear, tenderness--Nemirovsky captures it all. It will break your heart. But we can be grateful that the manuscript was saved.
