really liked it

Oh my, but that was fun. I bought this some time back, and it got buried in my TBR and I'm so sad that I didn't read it sooner, but so glad that I found it now. All four of these women are dangerous, and while I long to know how they found each other and bound together, I'm also really glad that the story just dropped us in with them already established as a merry band of mercenaries.

It's very wham-bam action, without overthinking or dwelling on history. All four women have issues, but the book isn't about resolving them, but about living the lives they choose despite them. No angsty brooding here. If I ever met any of them in real life, I'd run screaming the other direction before they could screw up my life, but I loved reading about the mayhem they wrought.

If you want an intricate plot, this probably isn't for you. It's pretty straightforward. No wheels within wheels, just animosities and prejudices and back alley deals. It's a shady world, and I enjoyed it.
