it was ok
bookshelves: contemporary-romance, virgin-heroine, arc, hero-biker, hero-convict

Going into this I expected more of a forbidden/taboo romance and an unrequited love story. Instead, I got a pretty 'safe' MC read. The heroine has been in love with Saint since she was ten years old. Saint is only five years older than her, so the age difference isn't that much. Because of some circumstances Sky leaves the MC world with her mother who is the most annoying and awful human being there is. One day she gets a letter from Saint who has been put into prison for a year. Through his letters he reveals some things she didn't know about her mother and just how awful she is.

The entire letters part of the blurb doesn't last very long and I was actually quite disappointed with that. The majority of the book focuses on Sky reacquainting herself with the MC world, discovering her sexuality, and her romance with Saint. The entire forbidden/taboo element isn't there because they meet up so soon again and everyone already knows they had a special connection and approves of their relationship. So pretty much smooth sailing. There are some few surprises to create drama but everything is resolved rather quickly. This is a very short read and pretty much uncomplicated. Despite my rating, this isn't a terrible book, but it did lack a lot of things I look for in a good book. The strong emotions and deep POV weren't there. The writing was very surface level and characters seemed a bit juvenile. Again, this is pretty much a mellow and safe MC romance book.
