Excellent historical fiction with a bit of magical realism thrown in to keep things spicy. Characters in Grave Mercy were compelling -- though some seemed much older than their years -- and the whodunnit aspects were well rendered, although some of the characters naivete was a little hard to swallow. A deliciously paced romance and dark overtones made this a captivating read for teen and older female readers, and the healthy feminist overtones allow readers to embrace characters without quibbles from modern morals... just right for your teen girls who like their romantic mysteries dark, brooding, and intense... and full of girls who kick ass.
