I have to give the book credit for being a little genre bending -- it's essentially a detective story, though our amateur sleuth is gay and actually the owner of a mystery book store. And it gets three stars because the writing is good -- Adrien as narrator is a lot of fun to read. BUT! Adrien also feels it's necessary to remind us that he's gay on Every. Single. Page. I got it in the first chapter, let's move on. Also, the mystery itself is kind of lame. The quirky characters almost make up for it, but not quite. I do have the next book in the series (I came into possession of the eBook for the first two books), so I'll keep going.
