I've adored the previous books by Doughty, and this one did not disappoint; if anything, I was disappointed as it seemed to end too soon! I hope children ask more pointed questions that the author can answer in a future book. And yes, it does get a little *too* detailed at times but that's what makes this so darn fascinating -- I mean, we've all wondered about some of this stuff, right? OK, well at least I have.

Even though children asked these questions doesn't mean I recommend they read this book, but I will say I would have devoured this at age 11-12.

Perfect for fans of Mary Roach's scientific study of what happens to bodies after death, Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers and also recommend Caitlin Doughty's other books along with following her Instagram posts.

(Side note that is a little morbid: We had an incident on our walking route of a house where a man's body wasn't discovered for a couple of months and he had cats. So this book answered my burning question although I didn't think about the specific items mentioned in the title.)
