really liked it

A moving story told in flashbacks from the 1980's. It is mainly set in the Seattle of the Japanese forced evacuations of 1942 but with a different twist - a first love story between a Japanese-American girl and a Chinese-American boy when there was much hatred between these ethnic groups because of the Japanese invasion of China - and then on top of this was the hatred toward the Japanese by Americans. A bonus for me, as a Seattlite, were all the descriptions of Seattle places.
