I had a difficult time getting into this book, but did finally get into the action towards the end. I think that I liked the idea of the book better than the actual book. The summary was so promising - a story about Dara Barr, a documentary filmmaker, taking on the challenge to film modern-day pirates near and around Djibouti. I am like Dara in that I just like the sound of that word - Djibouti. So the name of the book as well as it being by Elmore Leonard drew me into reading this story.

It jumps around between all the characters, just like I remembered from Get Shorty, but somehow, I couldn't get into the groove of this book like I did with Get Shorty. Perhaps it was because with Get Shorty, I had watched the film before reading the book so I was already familiar with the characters so the book offered other details that weren't in the movie. This book may take a re-reading to change my mind...but as of right now, there are so many other books on my list to be read, it may take a long while before that happens. Overall, not a book that I would recommend as a must-have-to-read.
