The Last Thing You Surrender
Jun 05, 2019
** spoiler alert ** This was a deep and emotional read. It revisited the harsh reality of the Jim Crow era in the south. Coupled with the harsh events of WWII. This book delved in the issues of love, race, hate, self identification and forgiveness. This book did a great job of intertwining the characters to make a poignant story of the struggles, both physical and moral, of race and tolerance. I would truly enjoy a sequel to follow up on the work of Johan and Luther. And who wouldn’t want to the love story of Chris and Thelma?
