A good look at the American family as it changes from the post WWII decades to the turbulence of the 1960's. It is an excellent book about a man who wanted nothing more than tranquility in his life, but found it impossible to maintain as the 1960s swept the country with protests and upheaval. Also, a good look at the inner workings of a family that on the surface seems to have it all. This book strips away the veneer of normalcy and looks at the dysfunction in the average American family. A very good book!
