I thought I would like this more, but I found the book to be poorly organized and the writing somewhat immature. I skimmed large portions of the text, stopping only at the sections describing the plant's historical path to the modern world, how the plant is used or modified today, and what some of the scientific considerations are. While the author had an interesting thesis, the development of the idea was lost among the pages and pages of his own scattered musings. Too bad. This book needed several more drafts and an excellent editor to make it what it should have been. Back to the library it goes.
