This one was weird. To me, it was the story of someone not all together in his head, who has a "lost weekend" over his August vacation.

I picked it up because another wargamer had heard about it, the narrator is one, too. That was weird to read, as real games and magazines are mentioned, but his favorite is not one of mine. I've read, but not played, /Third Reich/, so I more or less knew what he related. One of the disconcerting elements was that the narrator not only belongs to a wargames club, but one that has regional and national tournaments, like chess. From my experience of wargamers, that was laughably off-target.

I won't go into the rest of the plot, but Udo has a weird and scary time of it, which all seemed rather disconcerted, illogical, and nonsensical to me.
