really liked it

I'm still recovering from the effect this book had on me. I have read a lot of WWII books and this one was particularly poignant. I don't know if it was the subject matter - that is to say, the largest loss of civilian life that was NOT caused by a military incident or if it was the writing style, which I have to say was beautiful and compelling.

Susan The Report? Yes, I thought it was really good. My mother remembers that event happening, as she spent much of the Blitz down that particular tube station!

Elizabeth Moffat Wow, that's mind boggling. Hope your mum didn't lose any family or friends during the crush?

Susan No, she wasn't actually in the crush itself, but she remembers it being discussed at the time. She was about 7 or 8, so I suppose old enough to remember those things.
