it was amazing

I’m not much of a murder mystery or buddy cop sort of reader, but I decided to pick up Titanshade because of its unique and intriguing cover. While it does have some alien creatures and a divine way of speaking to the dead, the plot was surprisingly light on magic and sci fi elements. That being said, I fell for this book hard right from the get-go. It’s extremely well-written, with a fantastic POV character who’s impossible not to love, and his awesome partner, a fresh-out-of-college cop who’s full of heart and loyalty. It would have been easy for Stout to fall back on familiar world trappings in his fictional city, but he took on the challenge of wrapping the setting around a unique religion that ties in wonderfully. I was impressed with the writing from start to finish, and very glad I chose to give this buddy cop novel a chance!
