it was amazing
bookshelves: children-s-literature

Beautiful story told through illustration and words. A young boy named Ben is dealing with the recent death of his mother. Going through her belongings, he comes across a book labeled Wonderstruck, which leads him to New York City where he believes he will find his father. He ends up meeting his grandmother, who breaks the news to him that his father has passed as well. Ben finds peace in finally understanding his childhood story, and the story of his mother and father. Ben also connects with his grandmother, who is deaf just like Ben. Wonderstruck would make an amazing story for teaching students about their differences, discussing what it is like to be deaf, and teaching sign language. It would also make an excellent example of telling story through illustration.
