really liked it

This book made me think about some things concerning childhood, parenting, and society. So that's good. It also kept me interested. The first half of the book, in which the boy and his mother are imprisoned in a room, did get me feeling a bit claustrophobic, but I guess that's a good thing too. Yet I'm glad the second half came when it did because I was ready to leave the room.

The tactic of using the five-year-old boy as the narrator is completely necessary and is part of the basic idea of the book. Yet it's difficult to realistically handle five-year-old stream of consciousness sort of stuff, and I can't say I bought it entirely, but overall, it works.
