I think the show is actually so much better, and that's never ever been something I've said!

Camille The show definitely has more angst and a more involved and twisted plot. I loved the books SO much growing up that I would reread them every year. But when I reread them as an adult, they seemed rushed and lacking ... something. But since I'm so used to the books, I don't really even associate the show with the books since they are so different.

Katie If I had read them before the show came out, I probably would be very mad at the differences (and there are a lot!); I don't really like Elena in the books, she's a brat!

Camille LOL! I don't like Elena in the show because she's so whiney and needy. I saw Elena in the books as strong and took what she wanted.

Teresa @ Camille: When was the last time you read them? I remembered Elena that way too, but when I reread the whole series a year ago I was appalled at her, as Katie said, "brattiness." I really wish I hadn't read the books again, so I could continue to remember The Vampire Diaries fondly. My rating is based on my former love of the series.

Camille I retread them a few months after Elena was born (er, my Elena) so that was about two and a half years ago.

Teresa Maybe you're just really attached to her...

Camille Ya think?! lol

At least I didn't name my daughter Elena Gilbert Stearns. Now I'm wondering if we know book Elena's middle name. I'm sure if I knew it I would remember.

Teresa I don't think her middle name is ever mentioned.
