The author gets high marks for making the difficult, the sometimes macabe and the often tragic quite funny. However, he assuredly skips over or through or rerouts altogether when addressing the issue of alcoholism and his struggles. It is difficult enough as written--and clearly he is to be given high marks for coming through it in anything like a functioning manner. That said, if one is going to deal with one's life as an open book--then do so. If you get to the point of serious blackouts and hospitalizations; chemical poisoning and the like, the chances that you have as little detox problems as he is unlikely. At least the science does not seem to support that. In that case, what else is unlikely? Such makes me uncomfortable--albeit amused while reading. Thus the 3 star. I am willing to suspend disbelief--but do so for fiction disclosed as such. In fairness, I thought it was a very good and amusing read.
