The Day of the Rope: Book One (The Days of the Rope 1)

An adrenaline rush of a novel which should probably carry a government health warning. You’ll see why, if you read it! Unnerving and shocking, I was ready to call it a day after 25% or so (read on Kindle) as nausea mounted. But then, so did the story line and my desire to know how this would all end.
The setting is the USA and the focus is on a corrupt political establishment (left and right) which takes turns in gaining power, often by very foul means. The ‘cattle’, as the political masters refer to the electorate, are easily manipulated between elections. This enables the political elite to indulge in breathtaking corruption and depravity. Oh Founding Fathers what have you done?! Are you merely turning or spinning in the safety of your graves?
Step forward a crusading vigilante force pledged to cleanse the state of evil. But ‘good’ and ‘evil’ seem rather meaningless terms in the context of this novel. The vigilantes are outside the 'system' and therefore apart from the established left and right. But their fundamentalist drive is not inclined towards a slack liberalism which they believe encourages degeneracy and decay in society. This small but significant group is on target to achieve as the novel ends.
The author will write a sequel if we want one. Can my mental health cope with another dose of this?
Recommended to fans of extreme horror, conspiracy theorists, those partially cured of paranoia, lest they drop their guard and to the rest of us cattle...... Not for those who want to go on seeing Life through those rose tinted specs.

Not sure whether I can stay the course with this one. It's pretty gut wrenching stuff but I'll give it a go..
