really liked it

This is an entertaining story for children. Yua is a small white dog who belonged to a wizard who wanted a companion and gave him the power of speech. Unfortunately, after a short while he became bored with Yua's conversation and threw poor Yua out onto the street where he is left to forage for himself. Yua is discovered, cold and starving, in a ditch by a kindly wizard, Gwydion, who takes him into his home and adopts him as his own.

Gwydion soon discovers that Yua can speak and is happy to have him as his companion, but not long after Yua's arrival, Gwydion is kidnapped by some tough men who break into his book shop. Yua doesn't know what to do until a little girl, Lattie, comes along to the book shop and, together, they discover some interesting information about Lattie and her own magical abilities. Lattie and Yua formulate a plan to help rescue Gwydion from his kidnappers and, along the way, they make some discoveries about Lattie's own family background and why her mother disappeared and never returned for her.

Gwydion is a lovely, kindly man and you can't help but to love his character and Yua is also a resourceful and entertaining character who will delight children. Lattie is a sweet girl but she does exhibit a rather vengeful side of herself at the end which could be upsetting for sensitive children.
