This was a strange work of satire. Some parts I really enjoyed and others went right over my head, probably due to my lack of knowledge about the 1920s. Because this was published before Waugh's conversion and during the time of his divorce it is more secular and less hopeful than Brideshead Revisited, but still interesting. I'm not sorry I read it, but I do wish I could have gotten more out of it.
