The Ruins of Gorlan (Ranger's Apprentice, #1)
Jul 22, 2008
This was a refreshing and fast read. It was not as fantasy as some; there was very little magic and the world is only loosely based on ours. There is little creative license taken to make this seem unrealistic. It is a great story with engaging characters and a fun, fast plot. I finished it in a day and wanted to go back and get the next ones in the series... I since have. :) Although the later books weren't quite as fun as this, they are still 5-star books in my mind, and I will continue to read the series as it finishes. I really enjoyed this one and would recommend this series to anyone: Boy/girl, fantasy/sci-fi fan, etc. Great read! I am tempted to go pay outrageous sums to get the imported Australian versions of the books, just so I don't have to wait for the American publishers!
