really liked it

Actual rating: 4.5

This was a very inspiring read following 10 year old August Pullman, or let's call him Auggie! He's "deformed" due to the war of genetics. Auggie never really gone to school, so when he goes to middles school, all hell awaits him. He was avoided and gaped at. It was a really good book, it had a great message, but it ended too abruptly. Didn't Julian make up with him? What happened to Auggie's next year? I'm really sad that Wonder is a stand-alone book, because Auggie is a really good and lively character.
What I loved about this is that Auggie carries on even after he's heard all the bad things they say about him. He makes friends. He even becomes famous. He was accepted. Auggie really developed from the Star Wars loving freak to the awesome kid with a bad past, yet a beautiful future.
Congratulations to RJ Palacio on her beautiful first novel! Hoping to see more.

Julia Hi! can you please help answering some of these questions? You seem to know a lot about this book.
1. What does the astrounat helmet signify to Auggie's dad?
2. What events do you think had the biggest effects on Auggie?
3. Why does the cover use the tagline "dont judge a boy by his face"?
4.Why does Via (Olivia) say that she is a celestial body that orbits Auggie the sun?
Below are some of the precepts that Auggie and his classmates sent back at the end of the year. For each, Explain who the character is, why he or she chose that precept, and how it relates to his or her life.
1. " Everyone deserves a standing ovation because we all overcometh the world" ~Auggie Pullman
2. " Its not enough to be friendly you have to be a friend". ~Charlotte Cody
3. " Sometimes its good to start over" ~ Julian Alban
4. "Your deeds are your monuments" ~ Mr. Browne
