really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction, upper-elementary

A group of rambunctious school boys in ancient Rome find themselves in the midst of a mystery: who defaced the wall of the temple? Surely it must be Rufus who had written those very words at school yesterday and caused a ruckus. Now it's no laughing matter because he has been thrown in jail and might be sold into slavery or worse!

This story is so lighthearted and fun that you hardly recognize how much you'll be learning about ancient Rome! Additionally, the boys use logic to solve the mystery and finally figure out useful applications for the things their teacher has been making them study. Hooray! :)
