it was amazing

Eerie atmosphere and relationships without outright solve-this-mystery pattern. I appreciate Beauman's writing style - it is descriptive but stops short of the long-windedness of, say, Bronte. I would not consider this a mystery book for those seeking that genre. As well, I would not recommend this book to someone looking for a Nicholas Sparks story. That said, I enjoyed the less-than-perfect characters and the span of the story line. Telling the story from different characters' points of view kept it intriguing through more predictable portions.
